MJ comes to La Europa with an extensive background supporting adolescents and adults in a variety of inpatient and residential settings since 2018. She earned her master’s in social work in 2025 after working as a Substance Use Counselor supporting individuals in early recovery. MJ began her clinical work teaching DBT concepts and safety skills to adolescents in a long-term inpatient unit at Huntsman Mental Health Institute, a role she held for four years.

MJ completed her clinical internship in an outpatient setting supporting teens with a range of challenges, including Borderline Personality Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Anxiety and Panic Disorders. MJ graduated with Phi Alpha Honors and has continued to build her training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Exposure Response Prevention, Somatic Experiencing, and trauma-focused modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Attachment Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

MJ enjoys working with teens because of the many opportunities for growth that emerge as they begin to make progress. She believes in building relationships with students that avoid power and control and instead are rooted in validation, connection, and a solution-focused approach to their concerns and ideas. Through modeling healthy attachment, vulnerability, and the use of practical skills, MJ has seen many students begin to find hope in who they “could be.”

Outside of work, MJ enjoys mountain biking, camping, painting, CrossFit, crafting, and spending time with her sweet 90 lb Bernedoodle, Mazlow!
