Beth Nielsen, M.Ed.

Beth Nielsen has been with La Europa Academy since the fall of 2012. She has a BS in English from Utah State University and an M.Ed. from the University of Utah. She was born and raised in Utah, but during her college years she spent several months or years at a time on the East Coast and in Asia. She has had many opportunities to work with a variety of students, from small-town charter school students to urban alternative high school students.

Beth has long been interested in the construction and beauty of language. She loves teaching English because the practices of reading and writing give students the tools to communicate effectively and create worlds of their own imagination. The students at La Europa come with such a variety of unique perspectives and backgrounds, and she is often impressed by students’ gifts. Beth enjoys watching them learn to express themselves and to appreciate the art of language and literature.
