Lauren began her career in mental health in 2002 as an advocate and psychoeducator for adults with serious, persistent mental illness. She quickly realized she had found her calling and completed her graduate studies in 2005. Lauren has extensive experience working with clients who suffer from mood and anxiety disorders, major mental illness, substance use, and personality disorders. She uses humor and legitimate empathy to quickly establish rapport. She genuinely likes people, and the clients pick up on that. She is accepting, person-centered and strengthsbased in her work with clients. Lauren is experienced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the Transtheoretical Model (stages of change). Lauren works well with adopted children.  She also has experience treating students with eating disorders.

As a clinician, Lauren has worked with adolescents from all walks of life, in various stages in the change process. Working with clients who are initially resistant to treatment has been a particularly enjoyable challenge for her. Lauren remarks:

Nothing compares to the feeling, after such intense work, of winning over a stubborn client and witnessing the changes she can make-- to see what she can overcome when she sets her mind to a new course, and to see in action her newly acquired skills and fierce determination in order to succeed. It never gets old.

Back in Salt Lake City since 2014, Lauren is a full-time clinician and a full-time mother of an amazing young man. Lauren loves spending time at the pool on sunny days and relishes time spent with her family singing karaoke.
