Joselyn holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Utah and has 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She is a Latina, bilingual therapist. She speaks Spanish and understands Portuguese. She is a member of the LGTBQ+ community who advocates for reducing stereotypes, prejudice, and stigma. Her experience allows her to provide therapeutic services and psychoeducation that is conscious of diverse cultures, beliefs, and values. Joselyn aims to provide a space for her clients that is secure, safe, and promotes empowerment and healing. A passion of hers is supporting clients to develop self-awareness, self-expression, and self-love while building authentic relationships with others. She focuses on solution-based therapies, mindfulness, CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT, Motivational interviewing, and Trauma and Strength-based interventions.

Joselyn has worked for many different nonprofits, government agencies, and in higher education. On the state level, she was an In-Reach specialist. A main focus in this role was helping clients with Autism and other disabilities transition from care facilities to community group homes. She also created educational material on supporting individuals with disabilities, specifically on how to assist them in preparing for big life transitions. Joselyn fostered the development of at-risk youth by providing prevention services and educational opportunities for social, emotional, skills, character, and citizenship development. Joselyn managed a local sexual response team that supported direct justice, autonomy, and safety for all victims and survivors of sexual assault. She educated professionals on trauma-informed responses, domestic violence dynamics, gender-based violence, etc. to create consistency in services amongst direct service providers in the state.

Joselyn is originally from New York City and has lived in Utah for 16 years. She enjoys camping, hiking, and being outdoors. She has a goal to go to all 63 national parks in the United States. In her spare time, she practices yoga, enjoys singing karaoke, is teaching herself how to play the guitar, and loves to cook. She values supporting local businesses around her!
