Amy comes to La Europa with ten years of professional experience in residential treatment center settings. She grew up in beautiful Cache Valley, two hours north of Salt Lake City, and attended Utah State University earning her Bachelor's degree in Social Work. At that point she began working with young women who struggled with eating disorders and other mental health issues.

Ready to delve deeper into the area of mental health and to learn more about the personal impact mental health issues can have on people’s lives, Amy went on to get her master's degree at The University of Utah.

Immediately following graduate school, Amy accepted a post as a Behavioral Specialist and began working with young adults who were resistant to change. One area of focus was to teachm these emerging adults how to effectively communicate, providing them with the tools and skills that they had previously lacked. Amy’s passion for working with young adults stems from the feeling of fulfillment as she helps guide them along their journey to adulthood and as she mentor’s them in the search for their purpose in life.

Amy’s professional expertise includes the following mental health areas: treatment of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, attachment disorders, selfharm, oppositional defiance, borderline traits, and substance abuse. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy and is always focused on building the therapeutic relationship with her clients. Amy often reflects on her experience, several years ago, of having volunteered in orphanages in South America. Working with the children there was one of her most valuable and cherished experiences. Immersion in that paradigm has magnified Amy’s appreciation for where she is today, working in a place where families and attachment issues can be understood and repaired. Outside of her professional life, Amy enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures and languages, and spending time with her family, especially when they can enjoy being outdoors together surrounded by nature.
