Arbinger Through a partnership with The Arbinger Institute, La Europa offers relationship training for students, parents, and employees. The Arbinger training is an integral part of the families' experience at La Europa. Based upon the ground-breaking work of Yale-educated Dr. C. Terry Warner, the Arbinger training examines the fundamental elements of effective communication, responsibility, conflict resolution, lasting change, trust, cooperation, loyalty, and commitment in personal relationships. Facilitators are trained and certified by the Arbinger Institute. The training draws from material found in the following publications: Bonds That Make Us Free™ - C. Terry Warner Arbinger training is implemented into the La Europa experience in the following ways: Relationships group: The students may participate in a weekly group based on the Arbinger principles. The group draws on the principle that the power of our relationships is found deeper than in our behaviors with each other, in the way we see others. The group is facilitated by an Arbinger-trained therapist and allows the students to learn and practice the principles of responsive relationships. Arbinger workshop: All students and their parents will participate in a day-long workshop with an Arbinger-trained facilitator. Families will usually attend during their first experience with Parent Days. The workshop is designed to invite each member of the family to look at his/her own beliefs and experiences that contribute to the way they interact in relationships. Each member of the family will receive a copy of "The Choice Handbook" and "The Anatomy of Peace" as a part of the workshop. If a family wishes to have more than three members of their family participate in the workshop, they may do so for $60 per person for materials. Once a person has been through the workshop, they may participate again if they desire to do so at no additional cost. Parenting Pyramid group: Most parents will also participate in a group during Parent Days that addresses the specific ways that the Arbinger principles may be applied to parenting, particularly in difficult situations. In addition to learning practical skills, parents will explore ways that they can spread peace within their homes and families. Employee trainings: Employees are also required to participate in the Arbinger workshop described above, as well as an additional training specific to intervention. This training offers an opportunity to apply the principles of responsive relationships to their interventions and interactions with the students at La Europa. Arbinger workshops and groups are run by Richard Long and Amber Long, who have been trained by Arbinger and facilitated hundreds of seminars and workshops. |
