Rachel Gardner

Rachel Gardner, BS
Dance Teacher
Rachel Gardner was born into the world of dance and the arts.  With an artistic father employed in the entertainment industry in Hollywood, California and a mother owner/director of Tehachapi Dance Theatre, her artistic gifts and love of dance came as a natural outgrowth.

Her early training included Ballet under the direction of Penny Huffor, a former dancer with both the New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet Companies.  She was introduced to Graham technique by Marta Flores and continued her Modern training under Brodrick Wilson, former dancer with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company in New York City.  She also studied jazz, hip-hop, tap, and most recently African.  After High School, Rachel was awarded a full Performing Arts Scholarship at Utah Valley State College where she continued her technical dance training as a member of “Synergy” their modern dance company.  Her gift as a choreographer earned her the privilege of having several pieces selected to be performed at the American College Dance Festival as well as one of her works highlighted at a luncheon hosting Larry King Live.

Although Rachel loves performing, her passion has always been for teaching.  She began with her first teaching position at age fifteen. Since then she has taught in public schools, professional studios, and at the nationally acclaimed sports center Woodward West.  She believes, “It is the supreme art of a teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” She is currently working on her thesis in an integrated studies program at Utah Valley State College which allows her to incorporate her two passions, dance and behavioral science. Combining these two interests, Rachel hopes to continue to share the creative and therapeutic healing powers of dance with others.
